Hi, I’m Katie

IBCLC, mom of three, and founder of The Breastfeeding Mama

Available in office and virtually.

I became an IBCLC after facing my own significant struggles with breastfeeding and realizing how much better things could’ve been with the right kind of support. I’ve worked with thousands of families by providing online resources, groups, courses, and consults to help make feeding feel less overwhelming and more empowering.

I specialize in milk supply, pumping, and prenatal prep, and, more importantly, in meeting you exactly where you are, with care that’s realistic, compassionate, and rooted in both science and lived experience. I am a lifelong learner, constantly taking classes, learning new methods, and advocating for my clients to get the answers they deserve.

You’ll never be pressured to feed a certain way, you’ll always leave with a clear plan that feels doable, supportive, and tailored to you, and you will always have someone to turn to with your questions (even in the middle of the night). You are more than just a client when you walk into my office.

This work means everything to me, and I’m here to make sure you feel heard, equipped, and confident every step of the way. There is no greater privilege for me than working with you during this time.

I primarily do office visits in Littleton and virtual visits. For those who prefer home visits, Sierra, Julia and Breck are available across the Denver Metro, Foothills, and Castle Rock areas. Our team works together to ensure continuity of care, no matter who you see.

Insurance Coverage

Many insurances cover the total cost of your visits, but there may be out-of-pocket costs if your deductible hasn't been met, and this will be billed after the visit. We can provide an estimate if needed, but we can never guarantee what insurance will and will not cover. For our packages, most will be covered by insurance with an out-of-pocket fee for services not covered by insurance.

We’re in-network with most major Colorado insurance providers, including Medicaid. If you're using insurance for in-home visits, a $25 travel and home convenience fee applies per visit (waived for packages). When submitting your consult request, please provide us with both you and your baby's insurance information so we can verify insurance (unless it's a prenatal consult).

Please check our current status with the different insurances below and text 720-463-4016 with any questions. You can check out-of-network benefits and coverage here with Reimbursify, which we use to help you submit your claim.

Please text 720-463-4016 for any assistance with insurance or payment questions.

  • We are in-network with nearly all Aetna plans (including subsidaries), though there may be some exceptions. We can bill insurance for in-person and virtual visits. Standard copays, coinsurance, and patient responsibility apply as outlined in this document. Most clients pay anywhere from $0-100 depending on how many visits have been used. Aetna can be complex and deceiving with their covered visits, our new patient paperwork has additional information on how this looks.

  • We are in-network with nearly all UHC and UMR plans (and subsidiaries). We can bill for in-person and some virtual visits. Some plans require prior authorization. Standard co-pay, co-insurance and out-of-pocket costs may apply, though we find that most plans cover your visits.

  • We have partnered with Wildlflower to provide in-person and virtual care for Cigna families. This typically covers 4-6 visits, though we can usually get more approved. Please submit your insurance information here for fastest service. Don't hesitate to reach out for clarification.

  • Unfortunately, we are no longer able to bill BCBS/Anthem directly through TLN due to a company wide change. In Colorado, IBCLCs who are not MD, NP, etc. are not able to get in network. We encourage you to complain about the lack of in network IBCLCs available.

    • You can pay the full price of the consult, and we can provide a superbill for you to submit for reimbursement. We have found this to be the most effective way to get reimbursement.

  • We are proud to provide in-person and virtual care for Colorado Medicaid clients. Katie and Julia are currently the only ones that can provide this care. You must get a referral put in for lactation care through your doctor before we can see.

  • We are in network with Multiplan for in-person and virtual visits. Standard copays, coinsurance, and patient responsibility apply as outlined in this document.

  • We are unfortnately not in network with Tricare West at this time. We can provide a discount for those who are under Tricare. Please inquire for more details on pricing.

  • If we are not in network with your insurance, we are happy to provide a superbill to submit to your insurance by request. Please note we do not guarantee reimbursement.

Got Questions? Let’s Clear Them Up

Because milk supply is confusing enough—this part shouldn’t be.

  • As soon as you feel like you need support, and earlier if something feels “off.” The sooner we catch a problem, the easier it is to fix.

Many families schedule within the first 3–5 days, especially if they’re experiencing pain, latch difficulty, low output, or concerns about weight gain.

If you choose a package, you’ll receive priority, next-available booking so you don’t have to wait when feeding feels urgent.

  • Yes!

We offer in-home support throughout the Denver metro area, office visits, as well as virtual visits for families who prefer flexibility or live further out.

  • Yes.

We accept UHC/UMR, Aetna, Cigna, Colorado Medicaid, and Multiplan.
Most families have their lactation visits fully covered with little to no out-of-pocket cost.

If you purchase a package, your covered clinical visits apply toward the package and reduce your overall cost.

  • That’s completely okay, and extremely common.

We’ll work with your baby exactly as they are that day.

Whether we practice with baby, with a doll, or shift into troubleshooting (like pumping or bottle-feeding strategies), you’ll still leave with a clear, realistic plan.

  • You’re not alone - supply concerns are the #1 reason parents reach out.
At your visit, we’ll do a full evaluation, including milk transfer (if helpful), pumping assessment, flange sizing, and a customized supply plan based on your goals.

If you want extra support, the Luxe and Luxe Light packages include multiple follow-up visits and unlimited messaging for ongoing adjustments.

  • You’re welcome here.
Whether you’re nursing, pumping, combo-feeding, or exclusively bottle-feeding, I support all feeding journeys.

    We’ll work on:

    • Pump settings

    • Flange sizing

    • Output concerns

    • Bottle refusal

    • Pumping schedules

    • Returning-to-work prep

All feeding paths deserve expert support.

  • Yes.

We will assess latch, tongue mobility, and feeding mechanics, and walk you through what’s normal, what’s not, and what steps (if any) to consider next.

We also help with pre- and post-release oral exercises if needed.

  • You’re absolutely welcome to book.
    I regularly support babies with:

    • NICU histories

    • Slow weight gain

    • Prematurity

    • Jaundice

    • Torticollis

    • Reflux symptoms

    • Complex medical backgrounds

We’ll develop a plan that’s safe, gentle, and tailored specifically to your baby.

  • Feeding changes fast.
Many families feel great after our first visit — then suddenly need help again a few days or weeks later.

    A package gives you:

    • Multiple visits already built in

    • Unlimited messaging

    • Priority booking

    • Support as feeding evolves

    • Access to my full library of resources

Most parents say the peace of mind alone is worth it.

  • Absolutely.

Partners are welcome to join in person or virtually, ask questions, take videos, and learn how to help with positioning, pumping, bottle-feeding, and soothing.

  • You can’t choose wrong.

If you’re unsure, start with a single comprehensive visit, we’ll go over everything together.

If a package is a better fit, you can upgrade after your visit and apply your payment toward it.

We are also happy to a 15-minute discovery call to assess your needs!
