Struggling to Breastfeed in Columbine Valley, Colorado?

You’re in the right place.

If you’re looking for a lactation consultant in Columbine Valley, you’re likely wanting more than just quick advice and a pat on the back.

You want to understand what’s gong on with feeding, a plan that is designed for your specific needs, and support that is a calm in the storm.

At The Breastfeeding Mama, we work with many families in this area who are looking for that kind of support - especially during the early weeks when feeding can feel uncertain.

Katie is a native of this area, and it holds a special place in her heart.

One of the unique things about this area is that you have a variety of options.

Some families prefer in-home visits, especially in the early postpartum days when leaving the house feels like a lot.

Others love coming into Katie’s home office - getting out for a bit, having a dedicated space to focus on feeding, and working through things in a more structured setting.

Our team offers both.

During a visit (home or office), we commonly help with:

• painful breastfeeding
• babies who struggle to latch or stay latched
• milk supply concerns
• pumping routines and flange sizing
• combination feeding
• babies who seem unsettled during feeds

Our goal is always the same: help you understand what’s going on and give you a clear, manageable plan for the future.

In-Person Lactation Support in Columbine Valley

“Katie (and her team) are incredible!! I needed immediate help coming home from the hospital and Katie was so quick to respond and give me support. She is so responsive, works with you to meet your goals, and is so empathetic and encouraging at every step of the way. She is a wealth of knowledge and I’ve learned so much from her. There is no way I would be breastfeeding in any form right now if it wasn’t for all of the help her and her team provided me, and I am so grateful!” - Shelby S.

Most families in Columbine Valley deliver at:

Advent Health Littleton
Swedish HCA
UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital
Sky Ridge Medical Center

While you may have received some support in the hospital, feeding often changes once you’re home - and that’s when more personalized guidance becomes really helpful.

Many moms assume breastfeeding should just come naturally - but in reality, it’s a learned skill for both mom and baby.

Some of the most common reasons families in Aurora reach out for help include:

Preparing to Breastfeed

There’s no way to guarantee you’ll breastfeed trouble-free, but we can help you feel more confident when those problems arise. Many of the families we work with choose to do a prenatal consult which allows you to get to know a member of our team and have someone available that you’re comfortable with as soon as your baby makes their appearance!

Painful Breastfeeding

Persistent pain is a sign something isn’t quite right. We evaluate positioning, latch, oral function, and other factors that may be contributing.

Low Milk Supply

Milk supply concerns are one of the most common issues we help with. And we can support you far beyond just saying, “Nurse your baby more!” Together, we identify potential causes and create a clear plan to support and, when possible, increase your supply.

Pumping Challenges

Many moms in Aurora are returning to work or balancing breastfeeding with pumping. We can help with:

• pump selection
• flange sizing
• increasing output
• creating a manageable pumping schedule

Babies Who Struggle to Latch

If your baby pops on and off, falls asleep quickly, or seems frustrated during feeds, we can help troubleshoot what’s going on.

Hi, I’m Katie

IBCLC, mom of four, and founder of The Breastfeeding Mama. Milk Supply and Pumping Expert.

Available in the office and virtually - in-home availability with package purchase.

I became an IBCLC after facing my own significant struggles with breastfeeding and realizing how much better things could’ve been with the right kind of support. I’ve worked with thousands of families by providing online resources, groups, courses, and consults to help make feeding feel less overwhelming and more empowering.

I specialize in milk supply, pumping, prenatal prep, and holistic approaches to oral function, and, more importantly, in meeting you exactly where you are, with care that’s realistic, compassionate, and rooted in both science and lived experience.

I am a lifelong learner, constantly taking classes, learning new methods, and advocating for my clients to get the answers they deserve.

You’ll never be pressured to feed a certain way, you’ll always leave with a clear plan that feels doable, supportive, and tailored to you, and you will always have someone to turn to with your questions (even in the middle of the night). You are more than just a client when you walk into my office.

This work means everything to me, and I’m here to make sure you feel heard, equipped, and confident every step of the way. There is no greater privilege for me than working with you during this time.

I primarily do office visits in my home office in Columbine and virtual visits. I am typically only available for home visits as part of one of my package offerings.
