Eufy S1 Pro Wearable Pump Review + Coupon - IBCLC Perspective

The Eufy S1 Pro is the latest wearable pump to take Instagram and TikTok by storm. I've even posted about it! But is it worth the hype (and investment) or is it just another social media trend?

As with any wearable pump, the Eufy S1 Pro really isn't designed to be used as your primary breast pump. While some moms can do this (mostly those with robust milk supplies), it isn't for the majority.

With that said, I believe that the Eufy S1 Pro is a solid wearable pump option. It actually tops my list of the best wearable breast pump options. This opinion has come from the direct feedback I've gotten from clients and what I've heard from other trusted lactation consultants.

In fact, as I was writing this review, a client messaged me to say she had just switched to this pump and found it significantly more comfortable than the MomCozy S12 she had previously used.

Overview of the Eufy S1 Pro

Eufy S1 Pro Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Innovative heating technology enhances comfort and milk flow

    • Some people feel like this might cause "boob sweat", though I haven't heard this feedback from any moms I've worked with. If you tend to overheat, it may not be your favorite feature.

    • Portable charging case for on-the-go convenience (with the more expensive version)

    • Customizable settings via the Eufy Baby app that make it easy to customize the vacuum and heat

    • Quiet operation suitable for discreet pumping

    • High-quality materials - seems to be built better than other popular wearable pumps

    • Long-lasting charge (some moms have said it lasts them all day)

    • Doesn't seem to be prone to leaking

Cons:

  • Higher price point compared to some competitors (especially if you get the portable charging case)

  • Some moms report lower milk output compared to traditional pumps (not uncommon with a wearable)

  • Limited availability in retail stores

  • Newer pump, so it doesn't have as strong of a reputation as some brands, such as the Spectra.

  • Can be a little bit difficult to put all the pieces together - several moms have mentioned it's like putting together tupperwear

  • It's really hard to tell if your nipple is aligned in the shield - just have to go by feel

  • It feels a little bit less intuitive to use the buttons at times - you have to turn it on, and then press the power button again to get things rolling

  • While it's easy to clean, there are a lot of pieces to actually clean when you take it apart

  • A little bit bulky

Key Features & Specs

  • Suction Strength: Up to 300 mmHg, aligning with hospital-grade standards

  • Modes & Settings: Customizable suction strength and cycle speed; HeatFlow™ technology with 7 adjustable heat settings (95°F to 105°F)

  • Portability & Battery Life: The S1 Pro Includes a portable charging case providing up to five days of power; pump operates for approximately 2 hours per charge

  • Noise Level: Operates at an ultra-quiet 46dB, ensuring privacy during pumping sessions. I have tested the sound, and I do find it's quite a bit softer than some other pumps out there.

  • Ease of Cleaning: Components are easy to disassemble and clean; all skin-contact parts are made from BPA-free, food-grade materials

  • Connectivity: Compatible with the Eufy Baby app for personalized pumping sessions and tracking

From a Lactation Consultant’s Perspective

The Eufy S1 Pro introduces innovative features like integrated heating and app connectivity, aiming to enhance the pumping experience. The heating element may aid in milk flow and comfort, while the customizable settings allow mothers to tailor sessions to their needs. Some people find this gimmicky, but for the most part, it seems like many people really like it.

However, it's essential to ensure that the pump effectively empties the breasts to maintain supply and prevent issues such as clogged ducts. Making sure that you have the correctly sized flanges is really important.

I think the biggest thing for me is that this is a well-made pump. Numerous poorly constructed wearables on the market are not made from high-quality materials. The pump just looks and feels higher quality than many that I have tested out.

I honestly don't think you have to splurge on the case unless you are going to be away from a place where you can plug in the pump a lot. It is about $100 extra to get the case, which, I really don't think is worth it for most, since it's already a bit pricey to begin with. Here is the one without the case.

You definitely are going to want a good quality pumping bra for this. Davin and Adley is a great brand that I've seen work really well with wearable breast pumps. You can use the code TBM for 10% off.

Pro Tips for Best Results

  • Monitor Milk Output: Keep track of your milk output to ensure the pump is effectively emptying your breasts. If you notice a decrease, consider alternating with a traditional pump or using this one less frequently.

  • Utilize Heating Settings: Experiment with the different heat settings to find the most comfortable and effective temperature for your needs.

  • Proper Flange Size: Size yourself on a traditional breast pump for the inserts and then use those inserts with your wearable.

  • Proper Assembly: Ensure all components are correctly assembled to maintain suction and prevent leaks.

What Real Moms Are Saying

I always like to share feedback from actual uses of this breast pump. Overall, the feedback I've gotten from my actual clients is that it's comfortable, easy to use, and works better than other wearables they have tried. One of my clients, who had a child in the NICU and was using the Eufy, provided this detailed feedback:

Pros

  • Truly unique heating feature, really amps up the comfort and makes pumping way more manageable overall. I wish every pump had this !

  • Amazing charging carrying case - looks so great and easy to carry around for portability or throw into a bag

  • Reasonably quiet, can be worn during work calls etc with ease

  • Truly hands free

  • App is a game changer and super easy to use

  • Lots of customizable settings to actually get a strong suction

Cons

  • Despite strong suction, the milk draw isn’t as good as a hospital grade pump (I wonder if that depends on breast size etc)

  • Hard to “see” the nipple placement like with Spectra, so takes a bit longer to feel comfortable with the suction. At first it was much more painful

  • A bit hard to put together, esp the silicone cover like a Tupperware lid

  • Quite a lot of pieces to clean in total

  • Reasonable learning curve, needed a video to assemble the first two times

  • General notes

  • This would work extremely well for someone that has no issues with supply, otherwise it can only be a supplemental pump and not a main one

  • Would also work well for someone that has slightly smaller breasts, so they the fit with the pump is really optimal

  • All other cons can be managed because the pros are so valuable

Positive Feedback:

"The heating is fantastic. It's easy to clean. Suction is great for a wearable. It does not leak."

"The output is good. Better than any Momcozy pump I've tried."

"Would I return this? No. It would depend on the durability as time goes by but I really like it thus far and have stopped using my spectra s1, I was down to pumping once to twice a day to just do breastfeeding but this made me want to keep pumping due to it being so convenient (I move around A LOT). I believe it says the washable parts may need replacement in three months, but that’s with every pump. I’m just happy this one was able to survive in my sterilizer/dryer!… I will be using this on the go and I’m super excited to!"

"First thoughts, the parts are easy to clean. The silicone is hard to attach to the cup. It does get pretty hot. I haven’t tried adjusting it from the app yet. The suction is definitely there! comparable to my spectra but my boobs are not yet used to it. But 2 oz after my baby fed is still pretty good. But I definitely like the look of it and the charging case is so convenient."

"I have been using a cheap wearable pump from Amazon but have been wanting to upgrade to something that is quieter and more discreet. I tried the Elvie and hated it because I got less milk out and it made my nipples itch and hurt. I also tried the new momcozy mobile style and couldn’t make it work for me and continuously got less milk out. I have only pumped a few times with my eufy so far but I am getting my normal amounts of milk that I get with my hospital grade wall pump and cheap Amazon wearable (if not a little more) and it is not hurting my nipples at all! It is very quiet except for some clicking noises and it is pretty darn discreet as far as wearable pumps go. I would recommend them although I think pumps vary a lot depending on the user!"

Constructive Criticism:

"I’ve been using this pump for three months. They are amazing…. However be warned that because they are so new there are no 3rd party parts so you’re only able to get the duckbills, diaphragm, etc from eufy. I am currently trying to get parts, only to be told they are delayed and might be available at the end of the month. Completely unacceptable considering their own manual says they need to be replaced regularly! Great product, but lack of parts can lead to inefficient pumping (currently taking an additional 15 mins to pump to empty due to lack of good suction). Be careful when considering this pump."

"I don’t think my output is as good... my typical output with the Eufy is 1.5-2.5oz per side... whereas a standard Spectra pump for me yielded like a consistent total of 4-5 oz."

"My biggest complaint is the design, it's tedious to clean, and assemble/disassemble."

"output: my first complaint is that I don’t think my output is as good. i’m pretty frustrated when I pull them out of my bra and see that after 20 mins, I have less than 2 oz on one side. my typical output with the eufy is 1.5-2.5oz per side for a total of 3-5 oz, whereas a standard spectra pump for me yielded like a consistent total of 4-5 oz after multiple feeding sessions. worst part is I don’t think it’s really emptying me out, so i’m getting concerned about clogged ducts.

heat setting: it’s not super noticeable, so not sure it’s making a huge difference for me. wouldn’t consider this a major selling feature tbh.

suction/pain feedback: it took me awhile to get used to the spectra and eventually I did, so maybe I just need time with the eufy, but I find this pump to be a little more painful. I can’t do much more than a suction setting of 2 or 3. i’m sure i’ll eventually work my way up but as a first time breastfeeder, my nipples are generally in a hurt locker all the time, so not sure what’s me vs. the pump."

"This thread just shows how different pump work for different women, and truly not a one size fits all. I got this pump yesterday, and thought I’d test with my morning pump today. It was a hard miss. I got only 2oz combined, whereas I usually get 5-6oz combined. I had pump with my spectra to get the remainder 4oz out … It felt like a waste of 30 minutes and $300 lol. My mom cozy s12pros usually do a really good job at emptying me in the morning, comparable to my spectra

I’m hoping there’s an adjustment period, otherwise this truly sucks for me.

Pro- it is VERY comfortable. In a good fitted bra, it feels so smooth against my skin. Like a a velvety silicone."
